As FLO Bahamas marks 12 years of service this October, we are proud to celebrate this milestone with a week of special announcements that look toward the future.
Today, FLO is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Deno Cartwright as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Cartwright is no stranger to leadership, service, or community. With more than fifteen years of experience in finance, compliance, and regulatory banking, his professional life has been marked by excellence and integrity. Yet, what makes his appointment most exciting for FLO isn’t just his credentials, it’s his conviction that true progress happens when the whole community moves together, as demonstrated through his community work.
A Champion of the Whole-of-Community Approach
Across every sector he has touched, public, private, and civil society, Mr. Cartwright has modeled the kind of grounded, visionary leadership that mirrors FLO’s own mission: to build a culture of service through community-led action.
In support of the public sector, he served as Co-Chair of the National Youth Advisory Council where he led a dedicated group of youth development professionals in supporting national initiatives under the Division of Youth. His advocacy for the progress of the National Youth Policy helped set a foundation for the rights, education, advancement and overall development of young Bahamians. FLO, having long served as a registered youth organization and council supporter, deeply values this connection to his work.
In civil society, his leadership as Lead Pastor of Bethel Church has been equally inspiring. Under his guidance, the church’s community outreach has championed spiritual growth, professional development, health and wellness, and the creation of safe, supportive spaces for families – embodying the very principles of holistic development FLO seeks to advance.
In the private sector, as an established businessman and financial advisor, Mr. Cartwright’s is excited about leading FLO as a promotor of the vital role businesses play in social progress through volunteering, corporate social responsibility, and tangible partnerships that uplift Bahamian communities.
Leading with Grounded Vision
These threads converge beautifully in Mr. Cartwright’s appointment as FLO’s Chairman. His leadership represents more than governance; it reflects a whole-of-community philosophy that recognizes that everyone, from government to grassroots, has a part to play in national transformation.
As FLO enters this next chapter, we are confident that his guidance will help steer our organization’s strategic direction with wisdom, humility, and a deep sense of purpose.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Deno Cartwright, FLO’s new Chairman of the Board of Directors; a servant leader, visionary thinker, and passionate advocate for community-centered change.
Born in Nassau, The Bahamas, Mr. Cartwright holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the College of The Bahamas and a Master of Business Administration (Banking and Finance) from the University of Bangor, Wales. He is a Chartered Banker, Certified Financial Planner, and Justice of the Peace.
He currently serves as President and Fellow of the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services, immediate past Co-Chairperson of the Bahamas National Youth Advisory Council, and a member of Project Youth Justice. He is also Lead Pastor of The Bethel Church, founded in 2020.
