Volunteer Highlight: Tamara Clarke
There’s no denying that at the heart of volunteerism are community-based organizations (CBOs). They are at the crux of responsiveness, because they provide a well-need look at societal issues, community by community. Tamara Clarke is a prime example of the leaders of the organizations, whose thankless work and sacrifice make the difference.
Tamara is the President of the Millennium Gardens Home Owners Association. Her hard work and dedication throughout her tenure not only echoes the need for livable communities for her neighboring Bahamians, but also has put on display a true commitment to community togetherness.
When one thinks of an HOA, community cleanliness, housing standards and the like, but as with many local community associations, the Millennium Gardens HOA is so much more to its members. Under Tamara’s leadership not only is there typical activities like assiting with voting day and beautification and decoration of community signage but they have hosted countless activities to build a sense of unity like the past Easter Extravaganza and community Chistmas festivities.
Glenville Johnson, President of the One Stapledon Association referred to Tamara as a family oriented caring and nurturing mother and committed and loving wife in her personal life. He went on to describe her community work as being well respected in the wider Mount Moriah Community and nationally because of her level of involvement.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of community development. Tamara is no exception. We salute Tamara, and all involved in the Association and encourage members of local communities to get involved with their local constituency associations.
